New Year’s Day closings announced

Albert Lea Postmaster Florence Welch announces several changes for New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
As a result, on Thursday the post office lobby, service counter and bulk mail acceptance facilities will be closed. There will be no delivery service and mail will not be sorted to post office boxes. Also collection boxes around the city will not be picked up.
Normal mail services will resume on Friday.
City, county and federal offices will be closed on Thursday and resume operations with regular hours on Friday.
The Albert Lea Public Library will close at 8 p.m. today, remain closed on Thursday in observance of New Year’s Day, and open again on Friday and Saturday with regular posted hours.
