Panthers win St. Clair Holiday Tournament

The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva girls' basketball team brought home the St. Clair Holiday Tournament championship Tuedsday with a 71-47 victory over Canby.
The Panthers (7-0) puts on the clamps defensively in the second half as they held Canby to just 17 points.
"The NRHEG girls' basketball team had a great holiday tournament," said Panthers head coach Mindy Sparby. "The girls played great pressure defense all three days and play great team basketball. I was very proud of our effort all tournament long."
Alyssa Kerkhoff led NRHEG in scoring once again with 18 points and Kristina Cole finished with 15 points. Alyssa Hagen also added 13 points in the win.
The Panthers got a big boost from Anna Schlaak coming off the bench. Schlaak finished with nine points, 16 rebounds and six steals.
NRHEG plays its biggest game of the season thus far Tuesday against Blooming Prairie in New Richland. The Panthers handed the Awesome Blossoms their only conference defeat last season.
