Eight people file for public office in Freeborn county

Filing for candidacy began on Tuesday. People running for state or county offices can file at the auditor-treasurer’s office in the Freeborn County Government Center until July 15.

Municipal elections without a primary — such as small towns, townships and school districts — can start filing for candidacy Aug. 26.

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, eight people filed for public office within Freeborn County.

State representative District 27A:

- Incumbent Robin Brown, DFL, of rural Freeborn County

- William Wagner, DFL, of Ellendale

County Commissioner District 1:

- Incumbent Glen Mathiason, of Alden

- Neal Gjersvik, of Alden

County Commissioner District 3:

- Incumbent Jim Nelson, of Albert Lea

- Keith A. Porter Sr., of Albert Lea

- John Severtson, of Albert Lea

County Commissioner District 5:

- Michael Lee, of Albert Lea

- Linda Tuttle, of Albert Lea
