Freeborn County under tornado watch

A tornado watch is in effect for much of Minnesota, including Freeborn, Mower, Steele and Faribault counties, according to the National Weather Service. A total of 33 counties are under the watch until 10 p.m. Saturday.

Parts of central and southern Minnesota as well as west central Wisconsin are expected to experience scattered thunderstorms through Saturday afternoon and into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. A few of the storms could become severe between 2 and 8 p.m. mainly south of a line from Montevideo to Lakeville and east to Eau Claire, Wis.

Primary threats of the severe storms is large hail and damaging winds.

According to the National Weather Service, there could be more storms through Sunday with a slight risk of severe thunderstorms.
