Library’s children’s room recognizes readers of the week

The Albert Lea Public Library Children’s Room has been recognizing readers of the week this summer.

Erica Schleisman is 6 years old and will be in second grade at Hawthorne School. Her parents are Lisa and Jacob and she has a sister, Amber, 11, and a brother Jacob, 4. She has a cat named Kirby, a hamster, and three goldfish.  Her favorite activities are counting, spelling, riding her bike, camping and swimming at the pool. Her favorite book is “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” by Bill Martin Jr.  “I like all the letters. I’ve actually memorized the book,” she said.

Sydney Collins is 6 1/2  years old and the daughter of Marc and Barb Collins. She has two brothers, Bryce, 4, and Tommy, 18.  She has a cat named Sunshine and likes to swim, read and play games.  Her favorite book is “The Next Place” by Warren Hanson.  She likes it because, “I can almost read all the words.  I like the first page with the window picture and the pages with the hands and the rainbow,” she said.

Claire Jones is 9 years old and will be in fourth grade at Lakeview School. Her parents are Brady and Wendy Jones and she has two brothers Ben, 13, and Daniel, 11.  She has a dog named Buddy and her favorite things to do are paint and shop.  Her favorite book is “Camp Babymouse” by Jennifer and Matthew Holm.n She likes the whole series because the books are funny and have good stories in them and she likes the authors. 

Ryan Hanson is 9 years old and goes to Sibley School.  His parents are Jim and Brenda and he has a twin brother, Brent, and a sister Kaitlyn, who is 4. He has a cat named Socks and a dog named Maggie.  His favorite book is about tractors because he likes farming and the books on tractors are fun to read. “Sometimes I get to drive the tractor,” he said.
