Weekend Planner: Fair, breakfast, music top weekend events

The Albert Lea Noon Kiwanis Club will sponsor at pancake breakfast fundraiser from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Applebee’s. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, milk and juice will be served for $5 per person. Proceeds will benefit local youths.
Of course, the Freeborn County Fair continues through Sunday.
Following is a roundup of events happening in the area this weekend.
Friday, Aug. 1
The Pelican Breeze will host a pizza cruise at 6 p.m. Reservations are needed by 4 p.m.; call 383-2630.
Saturday, Aug. 2
The Pelican Breeze will hold a narrated cruise at 4 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 3
The Memories Band will perform the free concert in the Edgewater Park bandshell at 1:30 p.m. The band plays old-time waltzes, polkas, memory tunes and more. The group includes Ben Bednar of Austin as leader and on saxophone and clarinet; Susan Hays of Austin on keyboard; and Laverne Walheim of Glenville on drums.
The Pelican Breeze will host a narrated cruise at 1:30 p.m.
The Austin Singles and Solos will hold a dance at the Blooming Prairie Serviceman’s Club from 2 to 5 p.m. The Neil Lang Band will play. All are welcome.
