Published Saturday, November 22, 2008

The Freeborn County Chapter of the American Red Cross held a one-day blood drive on Nov. 10 at the Albert Lea National Guard Armory. There were 109 units collected and two first-time donors, Holly Bagley and Gayle Harig.

The following pins were awarded.

One gallon: Halane Bessert of Alden.

Four gallons: Bob Goldman of Albert Lea.

Five gallons: James Perschbacher of Albert Lea.

Seven gallons: George Wichmann of Alden.

Nine gallons: Ruth Thompson of Albert Lea.

Twelve gallons: Larry Luebke of Alden.

Organizers wish to thank all the volunteers who worked at the bloodmobile, especially all the donors who gave the special gift of life: a unit of blood. They also wish to thank Quiznos for the chocolate chip cookies and Kwik Trip for the orange juice. The next bloodmobile will be Jan. 7-9 at the Albert Lea National Guard Armory. To make an appointment to donate, call the Red Cross at 373-4544.
