Here are local and area highlights in history for Nov. 24, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — Students in the senior foods class at Albert Lea High School made 350 cookies which were sent to members of the U.S. Armed Forces in Saudi Arabia.
1980 — Work on the new $33 million Albert Lea Waste Water Treatment Plant five miles southeast of the city was now underway.
1970 — The Freeborn County Agricultural Society reported that the new beer garden at the fair made an $800 profit.
