DFL Party didn’t vote for the best candidate

Published Tuesday, November 25, 2008

I am writing this just prior to the Senate recount, and I am speaking as an individual and without a title. I am a lifelong resident of this state, and I have never seen the DFL Party ever lose a recount. I am saying I will be surprised if Al Franken and his friends do not win. And they will have the all the reasons for why it happened.

But my comments go much further than the recount. As you know, I am a Republican and this is because I firmly believe in our principles and our feeling of less government is the best way to do this, not with extra programs and taxes. But I also firmly believe that we should always vote for the best candidate regardless of party affiliation. For example, this year we had a woman seeking her party’s endorsement for U.S. Senate. She was from Minnesota and of unquestionable integrity as well as good background. Instead, the DFL chose Al Franken, who does not really represent Minnesota and in my opinion is of questionable integrity and not the type of background I would want as my senator. Why?

I asked several of my good DFL friends why they voted for him, and their answer, “Because he is a Democrat!”

This makes me very sad. I know I do not want anyone like him to represent me. In other words, I hope in the future you will vote for the best one. I believe your conscience will say thank you. That is how I feel!

Just feels like the election is being stolen from the people.

I would like our state to look at one simple change. I think it would be best if we divided up our electoral votes based on how the congressional district voted. If district one voted for A and district 2 voted for B than each has an electoral vote. It would make Minnesota a toss up and not always a blue state.

If we did this in every state than it would force the politication to campain in all states and to govern based on what the people want not what a few states want.

Just a thought.

Such whining. I am feeling so sorry for the party led by Bush and the other robber barons.

It looks like the guy with the thick Boston accent will prevail.

btw: I voted for Barr & Root for pres/vp and Barkley for senator

If the clown Franken wins the recount, the state of MN should be embarrassed beyond belief, the entire country will be laughing. If the country thought Ventura was a joke wait until the Franken mentality sets in.

it is beyond me how people don't remember this man's character and past and so many voted for him anyway. i think almost anyone other than franken as a candidate would have been better.

i pray coleman somehow pulls this off, but if people were ignorant enough to vote for franken, they were ignorant enough not to correctly fill out a ballot.

Many votes for Franken were simply a vote against Coleman. I know mine was. Feedman, if Franken wins he won't be the governor, he will be a U.S. senator. Franken would not be in a position to send Minnesota down the tube. Kona, many of us believe the opposite is true, people were smart enough not to vote for Coleman as he did not follow the will of the people of Minnesota.

hometownguy: because you feel coleman did not follow the will of the people, instead you cast your vote "against coleman", but you actually cast your vote For a porn scum, in his not so distant past.

if you were voting against coleman, why didn't you vote for barkley? he seems like a well put together person. much more than anyone could say about franken.

You think!?!?
Maybe Coleman wasn't a good choice, but I wouldn't elect Franken Mayor of Albert Lea... certainly not a State Senator!!!!

" he is the biggest idiot i have ever seen right behind obama and hillery"

First you need to learn how to spell, lamebrain. When that mass of goo in your skull begins functioning you would realize that either Obama or Hillary could chew and vommit Coleman(and you) faster than a facist lie.

Clean the dribble off, and crawl back in your cocoon, worm.
