Where are they now?

During the history of the Miss Albert Lea pageants, two sisters achieved this honor.

The first and the oldest of this duo to receive this honor was Amy Armstrong. She is the daughter of the Rev. Frank and Meredith Armstrong, and a 1987 graduate of Albert Lea High School. Amy was the runner-up in the 1987 Miss Albert Lea Pageant, and won this title in November 1988.

She was born in Greeley, Colo., and came to Albert Lea with her parents and younger sister, Brenda, in 1981.

Their parents moved to Rochester in 1993 and Rev. Armstrong is now retired from the ministry.

Amy worked at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center, participated in the Miss Minnesota Pageant in Austin, and left Albert Lea to attend St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College of St. Bonifacius).

While at the St. Paul Bible College she met her future husband Michael Langhus of Marion, Iowa. They were married in December 1990. Her husband is now employed by the University of Minnesota as a network administrator.

Amy Langhus obtained her degree from Bethel College (now University) of the Twin Cities, lives in Brooklyn Park, and is the mother of three sons. She and Michael are the parents of Daniel, 10, Issac, 8, and Andrew, 6.

She’s been the worship director of Bethany Baptist Church in Roseville.
