Tayler Schmeltzer tries her hand at reporting by doing a question-and-answer interview with Paul DiMeo, a designer for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

What does Paul DiMeo like?

TV show designer likes the Beatles

Published Saturday, October 4, 2008

My favorite designer on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is Paul DiMeo.

I just think that he is so cool and has a huge heart. Whenever he cries on “Extreme Makeover,” so do I. I think he is the heart that keeps this show going.

Recently I got to interview Paul on some of his likes and dislikes — real hard-hitting questions as you will see:

What is your favorite?

Color: Green

Food: Pasta

At-bat song: “Like a Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan

Artist and band: Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles

What is the last book you read? “Kite Runner”

What is your favorite sports team: Anything Philly

That’s Philadelphia. Paul grew up in Pennsylvania.

What would you be if you could not be an actor and a designer? I would be a scientist, botanist or a vet.

How did “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” start?

It started with an idea, and they shot a pilot and it just took off.

Paul also was an actor, and he told me his favorite acting part was as Hamlet in King’s County Shakespeare. (I had to get that last part on his Web site as Paul just said “Hamlet.”)

To get his Web site, search for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” designer Paul DiMeo.

Paul asked me if I wanted to know who he is voting for this November in the presidential race, but I told him no because I think that kind of stuff is private and should not be printed in paper.

So to wrap up this interview I will have to say that Paul DiMeo is so nice and kind. He was so patient with me as a new reporter, and I think that he went from “my most favorite designer” to “most super cool human being with a huge heart and tons of talent.”
