Tigers grab 1-0 win over Scarlets

The Albert Lea girls’ soccer team defeated Mankato West 1-0 in Mankato Thursday night on a header by Ariel Christensen in the 67th minute of play.
Sophie Miller sent a corner kick into the 18-yard box and Christensen put it in the back of the net to give the Tigers (7-1) their first regular season confernece win. Albert Lea defeated John Marshall at the Byron Invitational over the weekend in penalty kicks.
The Tigers had 21 shots in the game and the Scarlets had 18. Steph Ferguson made 13 saves for Albert Lea in the shutout.
Albert Lea, already without Jenna Christensen and Abbey Arends, were dealt another blow when Chelsea LeBrun left the game with injury.
The Tigers face Rochester Mayo Monday at home.
