Area students on NIACC spring 2008 dean’s list

Several area students have been named to the North Iowa Area Community College dean’s list for the 2008 spring semester.

Named to the full-time dean’s list by earning a 3.25 or better grade point average were:

From Lake Mills, Iowa: Jason Florence, Brandon Flugum, Jennifer Gaskill, Benjamin Mathews, Jennifer Ramthun and Jessica Ward.

From Northwood, Iowa: Emily Christian, Ronda Enderson, Cameo Fjelstad, Christopher Low and Justin Nerlien.

Named to the part-time dean’s list for earning a grade-point average of 3.25 or better were:

From Lake Mills, Iowa: Tammy Herfendal and Beau Honsey.

From Northwood, Iowa: Rebekah Kalvig, Scott Kalvig and John Szymeczek.

From Emmons: Benjamin Dagestad.

From Twin Lakes: Samantha Amundson.

Area students earn degrees at UW-River Falls

Area students were awarded degrees following spring semester at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Michael Wayne Yocom of Emmons was awarded his bachelor of science degree in agricultural business from the College of Agric ulture, Food & Environmental Sciences.

Michael Henry Veldman of Hollandale was awarded his bachelor of science degree in horticulture from the College of Agric ulture, Food & Environmental Sciences.

Kelsey Anne Berg of New Richland was awarded her bachelor of science and secondary education degree in pyschology and communicative disorders.

Judson Kromminga on RCTC dean’s list

Judson Allen Kromminga of Albert Lea was named to the spring 2008 semester dean’s list at Rochester Community and Technical College. To be named to the list, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

Mary Dahlheimer earns master’s

Mary Elizabeth Dahlheimer of Albert Lea was awarded her master of arts degree in education from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus on June 8. Two ceremonies were held at the Shrine Center Auditorium in Minneapolis.

Luther College names spring dean’s list

Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, has announced his dean’s list for the spring semester of the 2007-08 academic year. To be included, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Included were:

Kirsten Langsev, a senior and the daughter of Larry and Edith Langsev of Bricelyn. She majoring in English at Luther. She is a 2005 graduate of United South Central High School.

Ashley Berg, a junior and the daughter of Neil Berg and Diane Berg of Albert Lea She is majoring in psychology at Luther. She is a 2006 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

Alex Larson, a junior and the daughter of Carol and Dave Larson of Albert Lea. She is majoring in political science at Luther. She is a 2006 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

Leah Matheson, a sophomore and the daughter of Joel and Teresa Matheson of Albert Lea. She is majoring in biology and Spanish at Luther. She is a 2006 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

Ben Matheson, a senior and the son of Joel and Teresa Matheson of Albert Lea. He is majoring in communication studies at Luther. He is a 2004 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

Amanda Rose, a senior and the daughter of Kristine and Donald Rose of Albert Lea. She is majoring in psychology at Luther. She is a 2004 graduate of Albert Lea High School.  

Andrew Stoneking, a senior and the son of Steve and Julie Stoneking of Albert Lea, is majoring in music at Luther. He is a 2005 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

Leah Walters, a freshman and the daughter of Lee and Jodi Walters of Albert Lea. She is majoring in biology at Luther. She is a 2007 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

Molly Wright on dean’s list

Molly Wright was named to the dean’s list at Hamline University’s School of Law for the spring term of the 2007-08 academic year. To be included, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Wright previously received a bachelor of arts degree from Southwest State University.

Anna Yakle on dean’s list

Anna Yakle was named to the dean’s list at Hamline University’s School of Law for the spring term of the 2007-08 academic year. To be included, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Yakle previously received a bachelor of science degree from Winona State University.

Local students named to MSU dean’s list

The academic high honor and honors lists for the past spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato have been announced.

To qualify for the high honor list, a student must achieve a 4.0 straight “A” average. To qualify for the honor list, a student must earn a 3.5 to 3.99 average.

The following local students were included.

Luther College announces 2008 graduates

Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, awarded bachelor’s degrees to 566 seniors at commencement ceremonies for the class of 2008 May 18. Area graduates include:

Alison Blenka, the daughter of Al and Sue Blenka of Albert Lea. She majored in management.

Erin Claussen, daughter of Dan and Therese Claussen of Albert Lea. She majored in biology and Spanish.

Micah Holt, the son of John and Joan Holt of Albert Lea. He majored in accounting.

Amanda Rose, the daughter of Kristine and Donald Rose of Albert Lea. She majored in psychology and graduated magna cum laude.

Tyler Wiese, the son of Steve and Lee Wiese of Albert Lea. He majored in philosophy and political science and graduated magna cum laude.

Amy Christenson, the daughter of Linda Hagen of Wells. She majored in psychology and Spanish and graduated summa cum laude.

Area students graduate from Wartburg

Two students from this area were among the nearly 350 Wartburg College students received diplomas at spring commencement in Waverly, Iowa.

Erin Gustitus, a Spanish major and daughter of Marilee and Nick Gustitus of Albert Lea, graduated summa cum laude.

Brittania Panuska, daughter of Robert and Sherry Panuska of New Richland, graduated with a business administration major with a concentration in management.

Natalie Runden on dean’s list

Natalie Runden of Hayward was named to the dean’s list at Hamline University’s School of Law for the spring term of the 2007-08 academic year.

To be included, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better.

Runden previously received a bachelor of arts degree from St. Olaf College.
