G-E suffers big loss

Published Monday, September 8, 2008

The Glenville-Emmons football team took a 54-0 loss to Grand Meadow Friday night.

The Wolverines (0-2) knew going into the game it would be a difficult test.

Grand Meadow had more size than Glenville-Emmons and had more speed and used its running game to overpower the Wolverines.

“They didn’t do anything fancy,” Smith said. “They have a very dominant running game and very deceptive scheme.”

Smith said the offense didn’t help the defense much as the offense turned the ball over six times in the game.

With just two seniors on the squad Smith said he liked how Glenville-Emmons showed no quit and played hard despite being down big most of the game.

“The kids came to fight,” Smith said. “They didn’t lay down.”
