Because of adverse weather just before noon on Saturday, the dedication ceremony for the new Albert Lea High School sign next to Y.H. Hanson Avenue was held indoors in the commons area. This sign was donated by the Class of 1958 which was also holding their 50th reunion this weekend. Judy Myers Kinsey of West Concord, the daughter of the late Robert Myers, the school’s former choir director, was the chairwoman of the reunion. One of the speakers at the dedication was Dave Olson, chairman of the legacy project. He cited Tom Wayne of Los Gatos, Calif., as the designer of the sign, construction by Curt Rietveld of Clarks Grove, Southern Minnesota Landscaping for the setting, and Albert Lea Electric for the new lights on each side of the sign to illuminate this new addition to the school’s surroundings at night..
