Two people arrested for marijuana possession
Police arrested 35-year-old Hugh Cornick and 28-year-old Melissa Hendrickson for fifth-degree possession of marijuana Friday after police found a total of 53 marijuana plants growing in the basement of the house.
According to a news release, Albert Lea Police were dispatched to a domestic abuse call at 935 Madison Ave. at 8:30 p.m. Friday, and when they were at the house, they observed what they recognized as a marijuana growing operation.
Later, at 10:15 p.m. Friday, Albert Lea police officers and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant at the residence, the news release stated.
Officers found 53 marijuana plants growing in three different locations in the basement of the house, along with grow lights, electric timers, potting soil, fertilizers, a filtration system, water pumps and other items used in the marijuana grow, according to the release.
Officers also found fresh marijuana in a pail in the dining room area along with usable marijuana in a box. In the upstairs closet of the residence, officers located what appeared to have been used as another grow area that contained marijuana stems, silver sheeting on parts of walls, along with chemicals associated in growing marijuana.
16-year-old airlifted to Rochester after fight
A 16-year-old boy was airlifted from Albert Lea Medical Center to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester after being assaulted at the Albert Lea Skate Park on Johnson Street at 4:22 p.m. Monday, according to reports. The extent of the injuries are still unknown, and the case is under investigation.
Man arrested for providing to minors
Police arrested Jeffery Allen Stender for providing alcohol to minors at 1:28 a.m. Tuesday after police received a noise complaint for a house on the 100 block of Third Avenue, according to reports.
Trailer broken into
A trailer was reported broken into at the Jensen Electric parking lot at 1300 E. Main St. at 9:17 a.m. Monday, according to reports.
Vehicle broken into
A vehicle was reported broken into while its owner was working at Cargill. It was reported at 5:07 p.m. Monday, according to police reports.

Why would you call the police for a domestic situation when you have pot growing in your basement? Do we need any more proof that pot kills brain cells?

To the family of the 16 year old who was seriously injured. I don't know anyone involved but I feel for you and I am sorry that you are going through such an awful situation. Prayers to all of you!!!

Wingo... I am not sure but I think the reason Menace 56 called you a hypocrite is cuz you must have prejudged some one in past blogs. Not absolutely sure that is what he meant but that is what I got out of it when I first read it. Maybe not tho.

If that is what he meant, he miss read my blogs, that is one of my pet peeves, assuming and prejudging. I don't understand his post at all.
