1 dies in rollover in London Township

2 others were airlifted to Rochester

— A Riceville, Iowa, woman died Thursday evening after the automobile in which she was riding rolled over several times before resting on its top in southeastern Freeborn County.

According to a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office release, the rollover occurred at 5:52 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Freeborn County Road 13 and Freeborn County Road 34 in London Township.

The release stated the automobile was eastbound on County 13 when it “failed to negotiate the curve and appeared to roll several times before coming to rest on 890th Ave. (County 34) on its top.”

Carol Jean Cramer, 45, the front-seat passenger in the automobile, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was ejected from the automobile, according to reports.

The driver and owner of the vehicle, identified as Blake Nelson, 21, of Lyle, was transported to Albert Lea Medical Center, then flown by helicopter to Rochester, reports stated. As of late Thursday evening, his condition was stable.

A third passenger, Alisa Lynn Barth, 18, of Austin, was seatbelted in the backseat and was trapped in the automobile. She was cut out with the Jaws of Life hydraulic rescue tool by Glenville Fire Department responders and airlifted from the crash site to Rochester. Her condition is unknown, according to reports.

Responding at the scene were the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, Myrtle First Responders, Glenville First Responders, London First Responders, the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Cross Ambulance Service, Albert Lea Medical Center crews, Mayo One, the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Freeborn County Highway Department.
