High winds restart fire Thursday

Published Saturday, April 25, 2009

— A pontoon boat and two small sheds were listed as losses in a fire at the Joann Carlson place on 770th Avenue south of Clarks Grove about 5 p.m. Thursday. This fire was brought under control by the Clarks Grove and Geneva Fire Departments.

A report filed by the Freeborn County Sheriff‘s office said the owner had a permit to burn trash. This fire reportedly went out. However, high winds Thursday afternoon restarted the fire and it spread into a picked corn field where the sheds were located.

No estimate of the damages caused by this second fire has yet been made.
