Chambers deliver lots of misinformation

Published Friday, February 20, 2009

The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with its national counterpart, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, to host a series of events attacking the Employee Free Choice Act. The chambers don’t like the Employee Free Choice Act. And unfortunately, they’re delivering large amounts of disinformation at events like the one planned for Albert Lea this week.

In these tough economic times, the freedom to bargain collectively for better living standards is more essential than ever. The Employee Free Choice Act would restore American workers’ ability to bargain together for better wages and benefits — and start rebuilding the middle class.

We believe that working people must have the freedom to choose or reject unions without corporate interference. We support the Employee Free Choice Act, we hope Congress passes it, and we encourage Albert Lea area business people and workers to go to www.freechoiceact.org for more information about the Employee Free Choice Act.

This bill takes away the secret vote. It is unamerican and will destroy the economy. Don't believe me take a look at Detroit then look at the southern Auto belt. GM makes great cars but the union cost and rules have made them wards of the state. Just another step on the road to communisim.

I agree with NoDfl, if this law passes, the minority of the employees at the place of work have no say for two years!!The unions are pushing this because their enrolled has declined drastically.

Employee Free Choice Now . Org
Educating The World on The EFCA.

Myth vs. Reality: The REALITY is the Employee Free Choice Act Helps American Workers and their Families.

Despite the need for reform, critics of EFCA continue to misinform the public about the bill and hide the serious shortcomings of current labor law. Democrats are committed to setting the record straight and passing this important legislation on behalf of American workers and their families.

MYTH: EFCA will prevent the use of secret-ballot elections.

REALITY: EFCA does not strip workers of their right to choose a secret-ballot election to decide whether to select -- or not to select -- a union representative. EFCA simply gives workers the additional option of selecting a union representative by majority sign-up.

But desertdog in a free market no one forces anyone to work for that nickle. There is no gun to your head you have a choice to work or not. However this rule would force you to join a union without a free vote. There is a big difference between being forced and having a choice. Right now you can form a union have a vote and if the workers want one they will vote for it.

One last thing show me where a union created a company or a product. A union only takes it never creates. Again it is all in the way you look at it. Freedom Vs socialism. I chose freedom.

The unions are slowly killing themselves. Many are run by crooks. They collect dues every month but run out of "strike money" a month after they go on strike. They spend workers dues supporting politicians instead of their members. They encourage mediocrity through their involvement in hiring and firing. They are trying to stack the deck with legislation so they can survive.

I have seen the performance results of union and non union plants within the same company. The non union plant wins hands down when it comes to cost per case produced, etc. The assignment of new products go to the plant with the highest productivity. This productivity is the result of people working together. The union is a hinderance rather than a help in most instances.
