Myrtle and Manchester likely to get sewer funding

In addition to federal stimulus funds coming to Freeborn County to help with highway projects, a few small cities within the county are high on the priority list to receive funds as part of a clean water initiative.
Manchester and Myrtle are ranked Nos. 10 and 11 on the state’s clean water priority list to receive funds to help with upgrades to their sanitary sewer systems, District 27A Rep. Robin Brown said Thursday. There is some paperwork that needs to be finished and then the money will be available.
State Sen. Dan Sparks said Manchester is scheduled to receive $1.6 million, and Myrtle is scheduled to receive $630,000.
There are several small towns within the state that struggle to make necessary infrastructure changes, but not all of them will receive funding at this time, he said.
