50 years ago - 1958
The Albert Lea Packers defeated the Austin Packers 9-4 in a Southern Minnesota League baseball game. Charlie Weathers homered for Albert Lea and Paul Flores, Ed Stalker and Bill Ankoviak each had three hits.
In a non-conference baseball game the Albert Lea Tigers defeated Waseca 11-8. John Styve was the winning pitcher. Leading hitters for the Tigers were Bob Kaufman with a home run and triples by Dick Core and Dave Valdahl.
25 years ago - 1983
In Albert Lea Park & Recreation volleyball Norwest Bank won the Lower āCā Panther League title. Team members included Mary Lose, Linda Kelly, Joan Grorud, Jessi Rasmussen, Diane Steele, Rose Severtson, Kris Paul and Helen Jensen.
The Albert Lea Tiger baseball team defeated Austin 4-1 in the first round of District 2A. Tim Johnson pitched a five-hitter for the Tigers and also hit a home run.
The Glenville softball team defeated Southland 7-3 to win the Sub-Region 2
title. Sheila Cech was the winning pitcher and Laurie Rayman had two hits for Glenville.
The Albert Lea Tigers track and field team defeated Owatonna 91-68 in Sub-Region 2. Chris Hall of the Tigers won the 1,600 meter and 3,200 meter runs for the Tigers.
10 years ago - 1998
The ALHS baseball ended the season with a 4-3 loss to Rosemount. Chad Damerow and G.G.Gonzalez had two hits each for the Tigers.
The Alden-Conger baseball team shut-out Martin County West 8-0 in Section 2A.
Ryan Barnick pitched a three-hitter for the win. Josh Sorensen led A-C with three hits.
Scott Larson of the ALHS wrestling team received the LeRoy Maas Wrestling Scholarship.
United South Central won the Class A True Team State Title. Charlie Lehmann won the 110 high hurdles and the 300 intermediate.
