Published Saturday, January 10, 2009
The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva girls’ basketball delivered a dominating 77-38 win over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Friday night in Janesville.
Once again, it was Alyssa Kerkhoff leading the way for the Panthers (9-0, 4-0) in the victory. The sophomore lit the Bulldogs up for 24 points and fellow sophomore Kristina Cole added 18 points.
“The girls played a great game on both ends of the floor,” said NRHEG head coach Mindy Sparby. “Our defensive pressure forced 18 turnovers.”
Kerkhoff accounted for five steals and Jenna Brekke added four as the Panthers cruised in the win.
NRHEG shot 35 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.
After knocking off Blooming Prairie in double overtime Tuesday the No. 8-ranked Panthers got another test Saturday as they went against No. 6-ranked Hayfield in Hayfield.
