Published Friday, July 3, 2009

The Happiness Emporium Barbershop Quartet will sing at the Hayward Days outdoor worship on July 12 at 10 a.m. on the lawn of Hayward Lutheran Church. The Happiness Emporium was formed in December of 1972. In its first year and a half of existence, the quartet won four contests and placed in the top 10 in international competition. In 1975, the group was proclaimed International Champion of Barbershop Quartet Singing. Group members have a combined 125 years of quartet experience. The quartet has sung with seven district champion quartets, toured Pacific military hospitals on USO tours and have sung for countless barbershop chapters all over America, Canada, England, Sweden and Ireland. The group has also sung for conventions, variety shows, the Grand Ole Opry and on Broadway in New York. All are welcome for the service.
