Eagles Auxiliary

The Albert Lea Eagles Auxiliary met June 15 with Shirley Johnson presiding. There were 25 members present. Aracely Johnson received her last year’s officer’s pin and Historian Virginia Sorenson presented Past President Carolyn Brenegan with her scrapbook.

Six new members were initiated.

Gwen Stallkamp won the door prize.

The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on July 6.

Domestic Engineers

The Domestic Engineers met on June 26 for their annual one-day trip. They traveled to Elysian to the cabin of Wayne and Sharon Jahnke, located on Lake Francis. Jahnke served refreshments and a short business meeting was held.

Gen Montei conducted the meeting. Present were: Elaine Baer, Sally Benson, Darla Christianson, Beverly Diercks, Phyllis Hamborg, Jahnke, Neva Matheson, Jean McCarthy and Montei.

Darla Christeanson gave the councilor’s report of the dues for the coming year.

Carol Olson will host the family picnic in July. She will furnish sloppy joes, buns, dishes and silverware. Other members signed up for the remaining dishes for the potluck meal.

July 10 is the deadline to register for the scholarship luncheon, which will be held at Trail’s on July 21 at 11:30 a.m.

The day continued with a tour of Elysian. The first stop was the Le Sueur County Historical Museum. The there was lunch at “Ellie Gails’ Bakery and Deli,” and shopping at “Mama’s Merchantile” and Greenwalds Nursery and Garden Center.

This was followed by a tour of the Okaman Elk Farm. Mrs. Okaman conducted the tour and gave a history of the farm. The group returned to Jahnkes’ cabin for root beer floats. Wayne Jahnke gave a boat ride to all who wanted one.
