Photography club presents its end-of-the-year awards

The Lens and Shutter Photography Club held its End of the Year Awards and Picnic at the home of Jamie and Darrel Hauer. Darcy Sime, club president, presided over the meeting. There were 33 members and guests in attendance. Linda Mixon and Sean Passingham became new members.

May’s competition category was “Open.” Members receiving awards were: Cheryl Herold first place for “Elegant,” Jim Wendel second place for “Hi There” and Bernadine Peterson third place for “Mason.”

Members receiving honorable mentions were: Carol Haroldson, Cheryl Herold and Jim Wendel.

Merit awards were given to Dorothy Schulz, Sean Passingham, Bev Oyer, Dave Sime, Linda Eisterhold, Jean Aamodt and Jim Wendel. Julie Bronson and Darcy Sime each recieved two Merit Awards.

End-of-the-year awards were given to the following members: June Wells Award for Picture of the Year to Jim Wendel for “Alamo Wall.” First place picture of the year to Jim Wendel for “Orchid Center.” Second place picture of the year to Julie Bronson for “Mesmer Eyes.” Third place to John Eisterhold for “Swiss Alps.”

The Ken Wangen Award for “Photographer of the Year” was given to Cheryl Herold.

Members receiving Century Club Awards for earning a total of 100 or more points for the year were: Cheryl Herold, Jean Aamodt, Darcy Sime, Dave Sime, Jim Wendel, Mitch Pederson, Terri Simonson, Jamie Hauer, John Eisterhold, Bev Oyer, Julie Bronson and Ellen Saul.

The club is displaying pictures at Farmer’s State Bank that were in the end-of-the-year competition.

The club meets the third Thursday of the month, September through May.
