Published Wednesday, July 15, 2009
Here are highlights in history for July 15, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — Spike the Porcupine was one of the critters from the Minnesota Zoo Zoomobile that was part of the program for children at the Albert Lea Public Library.
1981 — Work was nearly complete on the new drive-up mail drop driveway on East William Street just of the south of the Albert Lea post Office.
1871 — The Albert Lea Fire Department ended the policy of having “sleepers,” a title given to men who lived at the fire station during the night hours.
