St. John’s Auxiliary

St. John’s Lutheran Home Auxiliary met July 20 in St. John’s Chapel. Auxiliary president JoAnne Fink greeted everyone and shared a poem about laughter. Devotions from Psalms Chapter 8 were presented by Pastor Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister. Hymns, “Beautiful Savior” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” were sung, accompanied by pianist Becky Nordland.
Caroline Neale gave the June secretary’s report and Ruth Perry presented the treasurer’s report.
Fink announced the Auxiliary annual fundraiser luncheon will be Sunday, Oct. 11. The next committee meeting will be Aug. 17 at 1 p.m.
Diane Wichmann of activities reported that residents went to the July 3 parade and St. John’s also had a float in the parade. There have been neighborhood picnics, fishing with the Fountain Lake Sportsmen’s Club, Branson show at the high school auditorium, antique tractor and garden show, a healing service, and many other activities. Residents are now working on fair entries.
Carla Reichel, volunteer coordinator, reported there were 794 volunteer hours donated in June, four You and Me Clubs, one sing a long, and Farm Day.
Vice President Angie Nelson read the names of residents celebrating July birthdays. The birthday song was sung in their honor. Celebrating July birthdays are: Vernon Jahnke, Valorus Hoiseth, Shirley Bendickson, Richard Doppelhammer, Myrtle Huso, Merle Dean Hovland, Frieda Mehus, Roger Light, Wayne Gunderson, Mary Tikalsky, Maridee Moe, Cecelia Peterson, William Hendrickson and Betty Jurs.
Fink thanked Grace Lutheran Church for presenting the July 8 Cheer program. Thanked for serving Sunday coffee were: June 28 Salem Lutheran Church, July 5 Our Savior’s Lutheran, July 12 Freeborn County Women’s Veterans and Karen Nyenhuis and children, July 19 Trinity Lutheran.
Nelson introduced Orville and Irene Goskeson of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, who sang songs of praise and played the guitar, bass fiddle and a saw.
Refreshments were provided by St. John’s Dietary Department.
