Here are highlights in history for July 31, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — A series of articles in the Tribune were based on people in Albert Lea who worked during the nighttime hours.
1979 — MGM Liquors of the Twin Cities announced it would construct a new retail store at 701 E. Main St. (Note: This project never became a reality.)
1959 — A total of $40,336 was listed for the sheep, hogs and beef sold at the Worth County Junior Livestock Sale in Northwood, Iowa.
