You Can Help

Published Saturday, June 6, 2009

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them, call Beth Spande at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Alden Museum: Volunteer opportunities abound for many different talents. Guide tours or dust exhibits. Join the board or just sit at the entrance during open hours (Fridays from 1 to 4.) Help with special events like Morin Lake Days. Use your creativity. Call Ingeborg Reindal at 874-3317, Phyllis Meyer at 874-3880, or Marie Petersen at 874-3162.

Albert Lea Art Center: Do you like beautiful gardens? The Art and Garden Tour will be July 17 and 18. If you can be a host/hostess for this event, call Penny Jacobsen at 373-2255. Also consider being a gallery host occasionally for a couple hours between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Call the Art Center at 373-5665.

Oak Park Place: Helpers are needed after supper (6:30 p.m.) to assist with games and visiting with residents. This might be a good activity once in a while with family members. Call Cindy at 373-5600.

Environmental Services: Help with household hazardous waste collection in Albert Lea on Saturday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. Call 377-5186 to volunteer.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
