2 die in Iowa crash

FOREST CITY, Iowa — Tyler Brighton, 19, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Harlan Derr, 58, of Rudd, Iowa, died as a result of a two-vehicle collision just after 5 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Hancock County Roads B14 and R74 just south of Forest City, Iowa.

A report from the Iowa State Patrol said Brighton and Derr died at the scene.

Also injured in the crash was Hoh Tsuruta of Lake Mills, driver of one of the vehicles, and his passenger, Alexander Mosby, also of Lake Mills.

Derr was listed as the driver and only occupant of the second vehicle involved in the collision.

More inmates come to county jail

Two Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputies reportedly picked up several Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees from numerous locations outside of Freeborn County starting at 5:48 a.m. Thursday. An exact number of detainees or their locations were unknown to the media.

Vehicle reported stolen

A white 1990 GMC Jimmy was reported stolen from a residence on the 200 block of South Washington Avenue at 5:41 p.m. Thursday. The license plate for the vehicle is MPN976.

Window broken out

A window was reported broken out of a house on the 800 block of Freeborn Avenue at 12:59 a.m. Thursday.
