What is this?
NARFE
Published Saturday, June 20, 2009
National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association members held their June meeting Tuesday afternoon at the Austin Holiday Inn. The main topic of the meeting was State NARFE Convention reports by delegates Jon Green and Ron and Peg Seath. The convention was held from May 19 to 21 at Detroit Lakes.
In his report, Ron Seath noted that NARFE Chapter 469 had contributed $100 toward Alzheimer’s research and that nationwide NARFE members had contributed $8 million to reach the goal for research.
In her report, Peg Seath told of the election of John Schmidt of Fergus Falls as the new state federation president. A new treasurer was also elected. Peg also told of a new feature of the convention called “What’s On Your Mind?” Delegates formed into small groups and were given time to put down ideas for improving the convention and the organization.
In his report, Green explained a proposal for simplifying the dues paid by members. Currently there are several dues options paid by NARFE members nationally. In October, we will be asked to vote our preference for the new uniform dues or to keep the old system.
The next NARFE meeting will be in Albert Lea on Aug. 11. For more information, contact Green at 373-8113.
