Local students graduate from Wartburg College
Wartburg College students received diplomas at spring commencement May 25.
The graduates included:
From Albert Lea: Aaron Bartholmey, bachelor of arts, magna cum laude, mathematics major, son of William J. and Mary E. Bartholmey; Eric Golder, bachelor of arts, English major, son of Julie Golder and Kenneth Golder of Holton, Kan.
From Glenville: Alexander Hansen, bachelor of arts, cum laude, elementary education major, son of Michael and Dorenne Hansen.
From Lake Mills, Iowa: Joshua Bernhard, bachelor of arts, summa cum laude, mathematics and business administration majors with finance concentration, son of James and Catherine Bernhard.
Those graduating summa cum laude achieved a 3.85 to 4.0 grade-point average; magna cum laude, a grade-point average of 3.7 to 3.84; and cum laude, a grade-point average of 3.5 to 3.69.
Samantha Overgaard
Samantha Overgaard accepted to journalism school
Samantha Overgaard of Albert Lea was accepted to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Overgaard is a junior majoring in journalism and communication arts.
Brady Hanson graduates from St. Olaf College
Brady Hanson of Albert Lea participated in St. Olaf College’s 120th commencement ceremony May 24.
Hanson was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in social studies education and American studies. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hanson of Albert Lea and a graduate of Albert Lea High School.
Jacob Winkels
Jacob Winkels on honors list
Jacob Winkels of Albert Lea was named to the University of North Dakota spring 2009 president’s roll of honor.
To qualify, a student must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.80 or higher.
Elizabeth Hanson graduates from St. Olaf
Elizabeth Volkman of Albert Lea participated in St. Olaf College’s 120th commencement ceremony May 24.
Volkman was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and Spanish, cum laude. She is the daughter of Neil and Mary Jo Volkman of Albert Lea and a graduate of Albert Lea High School.
Area students named to SCC honors list
South Central College has released the spring semester president’s list honorees. To be eligible, a student must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or better. The college has campuses in Faribault and North Mankato.
The following area students were included and are listed with their campus location.
From Albert Lea: Stephen L. Sorgatz, North Mankato; Jeffrey T. Swanson, North Mankato.
From Alden: Derek William Bair, North Mankato.
From Ellendale: Candice Violet Borchert, North Mankato.
From Geneva: Cassandra J. Hill, Faribault.
From Kiester: Thomas J. Eilertson, North Mankato.
From Wells: Tyler P. Allis, North Mankato; Julie K Eichhorn, North Mankato; Nicole M. Rohloff, North Mankato.
Local students graduate from Augsburg College
Augsburg College in Minneapolis has announced its 2009 graduates.
Included were:
Brandon Klukow of Albert Lea. He earned a degree in physics.
Christine Staloch of Albert Lea. She earned a degree in chemistry and physics.
