USC splits doubleheader with Blue Earth

Published Friday, June 26, 2009

The United South Central American Legion team found plenty of hits Thursday night against Blue Earth in Blue Earth, but was only able to earn a split in a doubleheader.

USC (8-4) dropped the first game of the twinbill 9-8, despite pounding out 12 hits in the game, including a three-run homer from Kevin George. USC left the bases loaded in the fifth inning.

But in the second game those hits kept coming and USC thrashed Blue Earth 20-2 in five innings.

George went deep again in the second game, this time for a two-run homer as he went 3-for-5 with four RBIs. He finished the night 6-for-10 with seven RBIs.

Eric Lackey went 3-for-4 with two RBIs while William Huper went 3-for-5 and A.J. Dreyer finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

USC will face Minnesota Lake Monday in Wells.
