Freeborn County celebrates Daffodil Days this week
Published Saturday, March 7, 2009
Spring is in the air. Daffodil Days will be held in Freeborn County Friday and Saturday. The daffodil is the American Cancer Society’s symbol of hope in the fight against cancer.
The American Legion in Albert Lea will serve as daffodil headquarters.
Daffodils will be available for purchase on Friday at local banks: Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, American Bank, Security Bank and several banks in surrounding communities. They will also be available at the Naeve Hospital Gift Shop.
On both Friday and Saturday, people can purchase daffodils at Hy-Vee Food Store, Nelson’s Market Place, ShopKo and Ben’s Floral & Frame Designs.
Daffodils are $10 per bunch. 2009 also marks the addition of Carrie N. Hope, a Boyds Bear designed exclusively for Daffodil Days. The bear and a bunch of daffodils is $25 while supplies last. Bears will only be sold at the grocery stores and hospital gift shop.
There were 8,100 bunches of daffodils pre-sold this year. They will be delivered on Thursday.
For cancer questions or concerns, call (800) ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org.
