Ashley Hagen touring with Bethany choir

Ashley Hagen, daughter of Steve Hagen of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Ann Qual of Albert Lea, is participating in the spring choir tour and the homecoming concert at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Hagen is a 2008 graduate of Albert Lea High School.

The Bethany Concert Choir and Mary Martha Singers are traveling and performing in Arizona, Colorado and Nevada. Upon return from their spring tour, they will present a homecoming concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, in Trinity Chapel. The concert choir and handbells are under the direction of Dennis Marzolf and the Mary Martha Singers are directed by Ann Fredrickson. The concert will include selections by Byrd, Telemann, Mendelssohn, Lotti, Mozart, di Lasso, Holst and Brahms. The concert is open to the public and advance tickets are not required. An offering will be gathered during the concert.

Nichelle Klatt to attend Augustana College

Nichelle Klatt

Nichelle Klatt has been accepted for admission at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., where she plans to major in biology.

She has received an academic scholarship and a leadership scholarship from Augustana.

She is the daughter of Dave and Shari Klatt of Albert Lea.

Robert Peterson awarded scholarship

Robert Peterson

Midwest Free Community Papers announced that Robert C. Peterson is one of this year’s recipients of a Merle Been Scholarship. Peterson was selected because of his academic achievement as well as participation in extracurricular activities.

The scholarship is awarded to children who have a parent or guardian working for one of the 134 member papers serving the Midwest.

Peterson’s mother, Shelly Peterson, works for the Freeborn County Shopper in Albert Lea.
