Little boy liked ‘Wild Things’ movie

Published Monday, November 2, 2009

I am writing today in regard to the guest column in the Thursday’s Tribune. Austin Daily Herald Managing Editor David Richards wrote about the movie “Where The Wild Things Are.” I wanted to let him know that as the parent of a 4-year-old little boy, I feel that I am not nuts because I took my child to this movie. Nor is any other parent. My little boy loved this movie.

Although he did tear up a few times when the monsters were sad, he was never afraid. I have to say I totally disagree with Mr. Richards’ adaptation of Max being a problem child. Max appears to be, like many, a child who is starving for attention from those around him. So when he does make it to the island, the idea of people calling him the king completely appeals to him. Gathering from Mr. Richards’ take on this movie, I would have to wonder if he has children. The movie showcased many different emotions, which is very much a part of a child’s development. So for anyone out there debating on taking their children to this movie, I would highly recommend it. I was reluctant at first but very glad we went.
