KFC still plans to open locally

Published Friday, November 6, 2009

A letter writer on Wednesday rumored that Kentucky Fried Chicken was not coming to Albert Lea. The Albert Lea Tribune confirmed with Community Development Director Bob Graham and local Realtor Tom Leland that this rumor is false.

Plans for the KFC franchise, in the former Starbucks location on East Main Street, are still under way, according to Graham and Leland. The restaurant is expected to be open around the first of the year.

Just more unfounded panic over the design ordinance. It WILL be a good thing.

Hurray, another chain that will help with the homogenization of main street America. We will no longer be Albert Lea, MN we will be Anytown USA. Boycott the chains and support the Mom and Pop's.

If those mom and pops had the oppportunity they would probably start chains too. I think most chains actually started that way!
