What is this?
Walz needs to do better in Washington
Published Saturday, November 7, 2009
As the time nears, colors change. If the vote had been five or six weeks ago before the people had time to investigate this garbage bill, Congressman Tim Walz would have yelled so loud that Nancy and her cronies would have trembled.
Many of us sat in on your meetings with our mouths closed and ears opened. We watched your eyes as you sidestepped our many concerns. The eyes tell the story of truth, loyalty, integrity, duty, honor, country, respect, selfless-service.
Brother Walz, I suggest you go back to the classroom in Mankato and write this on the chalkboard, 100 times. “I will not continue to be a standpatter, against the needs of my district and country.”
By the way, thank you for your stand with and for veterans this past week.
M. Frank McKinzie

Well said time for Mr. Waltz to get his resume back in order because come 2010 he will be part of that 10.2% of the unemployed. His support of Nancy P and the nanny state will be his un-doing.

I will help him find his way back to the classroom in Mankato. That is the least I can do for him.

Waltz voted for government funded abortion and to give tax payer paid health care for illegal aliens. It is time for this out of touch politican to be gone.

No surprises here. We have a letter writer who wants to run against Rep Waltz’s in the next election. Didn’t this same person write a letter a while back about how the Minnesota Republican Party has been shying away from his campaign? Then to have the Freeborn County Republican posting machine supporting him really is amusing.

@ NoDFL:
I don't think the bill that passed allows for illegal aliens to get care. Is it more that there isn't enough done to prevent fraud?
They actually can already get health care by going to any ER. They get treated and then sent the bill. If they can't pay it, they don't. It can get turned over to collections but you can't get blood from a turnip. So it is a big problem already but I don't think the bill specifically allows them to get covered under the reform.
As far as the abortion piece, sadly there are cases where it may be necessary. What if the mother's life is in danger? And there are cases where while not medically necessary, you can see the circumstances that would lead to this - rape and incest. Can you honestly tell me a woman who is raped should be forced to have a rapist's baby or a baby fathered by her own biological father, for example?

MissIndependent,
What I was saying is he voted against the admendments. Federal law currently prohibats federal money (any tax payer money) from paying for abortion. The language that was in the bill reversed that. A Dem from MI said if this was in there he would vote against the bill. He got 40 Dems to sign on and Nancy P allowed for a debate and a vote on the ammendment. It passed with all Rep and the 40 Dems. Tim Waltz vote against it. Thus he supports tax payer money going to pay for abortion. While you and I have a right to agree or disagree about abortion the Federal government has no right to take money (my property) and give it to who they see fit. That is a violation of the Constitution.
Mr. Waltz cannot think for himself. He does what ever Nancy P tells him to do. I have no respect for that. He was elected to repersent us not to do what Nancy P tells him.
Next health care is not a right in the Constitution. Thus illegal (people who are here in violation of the law) aliens have no right to any program paid for by the American people. Now we can talk about the ER thing. While American people have huge hearts (both parties and Inds) and would never do anything to harm a person just because they are poor you have to wonder why the government finds a need to legislate charity. There must be a better system than this 1 trillion dollar 2000 page bill. But again my issue is he voted against setting these rules. A rule pushed by President Obama. President Obama said on Sat that he support restricting illegal aliens from getting government run health care. He was doing this so that he would not look like he has flip flop and Rep Wilson was right.
All of this maybe a mood point because there is still the Senate bill and there is no support for a public option. This may have just been a show vote but it has made me more political active than ever. I have never put a sign in my yard or gave money to any poltical party but Mr. Waltz has changed that. I will do everything in my power to get rid of this guy. However I will not replace him with just someone from the other party. Who ever runs against him better have a plan and reflect my beliefs. I have not and will not follow a party.
So I will stand by my statement it is time for Mr. Waltz to look for a new job because come 2010 he is out of here.

I am with you NoDFL time for this guy to go. It is time for a recall vote for Tim Waltz. He is guilty of nonfeasance. According to Section 6 of Article 8 of the Minnesota Constitution we can recall him. The time is now before this guy does anymore damage.
Who will join with me to demand a recall of Mr. Waltz? He has failed to do his duty. He refuse to defend the Constitution and to represent us. Now is the time to show them we mean business why wait until 2010.

After last nights vote it is time for Mr. Waltz to go. He needs to re-read the Constitution. (you know the thing you swore to protect). Here is a little help for you Mr. Waltz.
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitution's principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people.
James Madison (the father of the Constitution for those of you who don't know your history) described the division of labor between the states and the federal government as follows:
The powers delegated by the Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. (Please read that again) Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite.... The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State. (Federalist Papers, NO. 45, pp. 292-93

Missindependend "I don't think the bill that passed allows for illegal aliens to get care. Is it more that there isn't enough done to prevent fraud?"
From the AP yesterday--see the last line.
"Pelosi and other Democratic leaders were finalizing language to bar federal funding of abortion and resolving a flare-up over the treatment of illegal immigrants in the legislation that had Hispanic lawmakers up in arms.
Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus object to a provision in the Senate legislation — backed by the White House — that bars illegal immigrants from buying health insurance within a proposed new marketplace, or exchange, even if they use their own money to buy from private companies.
Illegal immigrants can buy private health insurance now, so some lawmakers say the White House position goes too far. The House bill doesn't have that language, and several members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus met with Obama at the White House on Thursday to tell him that if that changed, he could lose as many as 20 votes.
"I think that he got our message," Rep. Nydia Velazquez, D-N.Y., head of the Hispanic Caucus, said afterward.
House leaders said that, in keeping with the Hispanic Caucus' demands, there was not likely to be any prohibition added to the House bill against illegal immigrants shopping in the exchange.
"
Wait till THAT becomes general knowledge!
Though I am right-wing, I generally approved of Walz because of his support for Veteran's affairs--but as I told him in my letter opposing the "health care" initiative, I will work tirelessly AGAINST anybody that supports this ill-considered partisan turkey of a bill.

Erine,
You know as well as I do that that when (if) this bill makes it to committe there will health care for illegals. President Obama may say he is against it but he needs the 20 votes. So the deal went vote for this now with the admendment and we will remove it later. The abortion is the same thing. Nancy and Obama said you far left liberals can vote against the admendment and know we will remove it later. Thus the blue dogs can save face and the liberals have nothing to fear. It will take all of us to keep this in the spot light.
While yes Mr. Waltz has been very supportive of Vets (because he is one and see the benefits) his many other faults will cause me to vote him out.
Speaking of Vets if any of you have had to deal with VA health care you will understand why there is so much fear of this government run health care. The doctors and staff are great (top notch) the rules and the wait is not. If the doctors could be free to practice medicane it would be great but they have to ration care. Why because it is all about money. There is no insurance company telling them no it is the federal government. Don't forget medicare denies more claims than all the insurance compaies combined.
Barack Obama and the Democrats like to demonize private insurance companies for denying coverage for pre-existing conditions and other reasons, but did you know that government run Medicare denies more coverage both in percentage of claims and actual number of patients denied than any private insurance company?
From NHXS, the 2008 National Health Insurer Report Card:
Medicare denied coverage to 475,566 patients in 2008, or 6.85%. The runner up was the private insurance company Aetna with 43,317 patients, or 6.80%, but most private health insurance companies fall well below the 4% mark.
Reasons for denial of coverage includes:
■Charge exceeds fee schedule/maximum allowable or contracted/legislated fee arrangement.
■These are non-covered services because this is not deemed a ‘medical necessity’ by the payer.
■These are non-covered services because this is a pre-existing condition.
http://www.nhxs.com/docs/files/File/AMA_...
So stop with the BS that it is the big bad insurance company. It is the Federal Government. Remember Econ 101. When price goes down so does supply (Law of Supply) and when price goes down demand goes up (Law of Demand). The only way this plan will work is to ration care. There is no other way.... Get ready for lines and poor care. Can't wait.... :(

@ NoDFL and Ernie - thanks for clarifying your points. I get what you are saying.
Do you think this will actually pass the Senate? I have to be honest that I am surprised it has gotten this far....makes me very nervous.
Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 8, 2009 at 6:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)
I think the Senate will play the same games as the house. Look what they did to Snow from Maine. They told her no public option so that she would vote to get it out. Then behind the close door meeting it was put back in. She is now feeling used and Joe L is saying he will block it. Reid has lost 3 senators but that will change. He will create a bill that will get the votes he needs then when they come together they will change it but the house and senate dem will say we have come this far we can not back down. The blue dogs will fold, the MI house member will drop his abortion issue, President Obama will let illegals in and the whole ugly mess will pass. Then we will wonder why unemployement is 10+% for years on end. We will wonder why China refuse to buy our debt and we will all get our free blue pill from the government to make us forget.
The more I think about it the more I think we need to pass something like AZ and say sorry Minnesota will not be a part of this mess.
I think you have a right to be nervous. I don't think this was the change we hoped for.
Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 8, 2009 at 6:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Sorry here is what I was talking about for AZ and what we need it Minnesota.
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring, that:
1. That the State of Arizona hereby claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States.
2. That this Resolution serves as notice and demand to the federal government, as our agent, to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers.
3. That all compulsory federal legislation that directs states to comply under threat of civil or criminal penalties or sanctions or requires states to pass legislation or lose federal funding be prohibited or repealed.
4. That the Secretary of State of the State of Arizona transmit copies of this resolution to the President of the United States, the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate of each state's legislature and each Member of Congress from the State of Arizona.

I can only hope so. I like Pawlenty's proposal of being able to buy insurance across state lines. Increased competition equals better products. My concern is MN is one of the most liberal states in the nation so not sure something like AZ would pass here.
I know they keep saying that this is going to save money in the long run, insure nearly everyone, etc. but I just don't see how. Don't get me wrong, I do think we need to get the working poor insured, help those that are facing financial ruin due to catastrophic illness, etc. but I think you can do that without a public option. We already have Medicare and Medicaid and the government ends up contracting much of that out to the private sector anyways.

Reid is going to have a tougher time passing this in the Senate. Dick Morris had the best take--the bill didn't just squeak by--the most vulnerable Dems were ALLOWED by Pelosi to vote against it. ALL Representatives are up for election every two years, while only 1/3 of the Senate is up. Not so many vulnerable Dem Senators.
There will be SOME kind of "health care reform" passed--but it won't look like the Pelosi monstrosity. Obama HAS to have a bill--he has staked his whole Presidency on it.
The more we keep the pressure on them--the more people are NOT in favor of the bill--the more the bill gets watered down--the more the far left is angered at Obama for not including everything they want--the better. Then we can start working on undoing the damage these naive political neophytes have done to us.
Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 9, 2009 at 2:19 p.m. (Suggest removal)
Ok Ernie how do we keep the pressure on them. They don't answer their phone or email. They hide from us. I want to do my part but how.
I see some have called for a recall of Waltz. I think that would send a message.
Posted by ErnieGann (anonymous) on November 9, 2009 at 5:40 p.m. (Suggest removal)
A recall would be good--but I hate to see the precedent started. Much as I don't like his vote, Congresscritters SHOULD have the right to cast it--and then pay the consequences later.
You are correct NoDFL--they have been in hiding. Some Donks have cancelled their "open meetings" rather than face irate constituents.
Our Representatives and Senators need to know the wishes of the electorate. That can be done in several ways--the usualy barrage of E-mails--but a letter is more effective, and a telephone call is better yet.
Beyond that is the PUBLIC display of opinion. The Dems have done this for generations--but then, the Dems are ALWAYS outraged about SOMETHING. Organized protests at every opportunity--TEA parties--demonstrations--there is nothing that captures the attention of both the Congressman and the independent voter as much as being constantly confronted with protesters every time they come back to the District.
ISSUE ADS--not party ads--can be effective. I donate to them, instead of the party.
Look at Obama's slipping poll numbers. Where is the change coming from? Not from Conservatives or Repubs--they didn't support him in the first place. Not from the far left--he could be Stalin reincarnated and they would still vote for him. His slippage has come entirely from independents and Dems that have come to their senses.
Look at it this way--the independent and "switch voters" make up about 40% of the electorate. For Obama to lose over 20% in approval ratings means that HALF of that group of independents and "switch voter" Democrats who supported him initially have changed their minds. That is HUGE!
The same can and should be done with Walz--tie him to this issue like a millstone around his neck--make people aware of his party-line vote every chance you get--make sure he never sets foot in the District without a protester to face him--organize protests against him. It may take some time, but the rest of the electorate will eventually see him as we do.

Thanks and that is what I am going to start doing. I called his Rochester office and got (surprise) a machine. I left him a message. I was respectful but firm. I have never knock on doors for anyone and have always kept my political beliefs to myself. No more I told his machine he has awoke me and I will be donate money for the first time. I will work to get him out. How do you join a Tea Party?

Miss Independent: The rape and incest cases that you state are very very rare. I believe it is less than one percent of all the abortions performed. If I am not mistaken, I also believe that federal funding for abortions has exceptions in place for those rare cases. You should meet Pam Stenzel. She is an internationally recognized speaker on sexual issues for largely teen audiences. She speaks to around 500,000 teens annually. She was in Albert Lea in 2005 and 2006. Pam has saved thousands of teens from the pain, hurt and death caused by STD's, teen pregnancy, and abusive relationships. Pam was the product of a birth caused by the rape of her biological mother who later adopted her to a loving family. God has a plan for everyone Miss Independent. Think about that.

Garage Logic usually publicized the Tax revolt demonstration. They reference this site http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:KatE...
http://teapartymn.com/ has upcoming events
Here is the one that did the Rochester event http://teapartypatriots.org/State/Minnes...
Outdoor events are hard to do in winter--but there are usually some indoor events.
The important thing is--don't let Congresscritters think that this will blow over. They are counting on people forgetting about their vote--we SHOULDN'T--we WON'T.

Thanks Culture. I am just saying that for rape and incest, I don't blame or judge a woman for having an abortion. That is between her and her God of choice. I actually commend women who do have their babies and give them up for adoption even in a rape case but that is hard to do for most women. They didn't choose to get pregnant and I think God forgives if they ask and mean it.
I don't think we need to provide federal funding outside of the extreme cases as no matter what side of the fence you are on, it is an ELECTIVE procedure. What's next - paying for breast implants?
But I will Google Pam because sounds like she does some good things and has a great message for young people.
