Albert Lea firefighters and a Freeborn County sheriff’s deputy get a report from another officer Thursday who had been searching a farm field for a man who allegedly drove a truck into a swamp, injured himself and then fled the scene.
Man drives a company truck into a swamp north of Albert Lea

Seth Strusz
A man drove a truck into a swamp north of Albert Lea on Thursday afternoon.
As of this morning, authorities still were searching for Seth Strusz, who has brown eyes and brown hair and a round face.
The Freeborn County Canine Unit, a tracker from the Albert Lea Fire Department, and other emergency personnel searched farm fields late Thursday afternoon looking for Strusz, who allegedly drove a company truck — possibly a grain truck — into a swamp, injured himself and then fled the scene.
The field is north of County Road 14, and east of 725th Avenue. The swamp is about two miles north of Highway 13’s interchange with Interstate 90.
A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter was also expected to join in the search, though it was getting dark.
Fire departments from Manchester, Freeborn and Clarks Grove also responded.
Because a tracker and canine were being used in the search, the media was being kept back from the scene.
More details were not available this morning because Sheriff’s Office told the Tribune it was too busy in the search to give an update for the public.

I hope this person is located soon and is in good health when found. Praying for his safe discovery and for strength for his family during the search.
Now, why is it listed that he 'injured himself then fled the scene." Do we know that he injured himself, or was he injured from driving into the swamp? And how do we know he fled the scene? Fleeing the scene of an accident would imply guilt of some sort, do we know this? Or is there more that is not being disclosed? (I understand that not all details are shared until a full investigation has been conducted but if you're going to post a story such as this then maybe a little more information would be ideal)
KAAL is covering the story much more thoroughly, maybe gather some of your information from their site. http://www.kaaltv.com/

I agree that the wording of the story is not very good and not well thought out. They should either print only what they know and not speculate or not write anything all. KTTC out of Rochester is also doing an excellent job in their reporting.
Praying for Seth, his family, and all that know him.

No matter how a story is written there is always someone to pick it apart.

Isn't that the truth Wingo? How borderline pathetic. They only report what they are told, and at this time they aren't being told much. Wait for the spins they put on it at least. Let me ask you this, "Have you ever talked talked to a law enforcement person and asked them something they did not want to answer?" I rest my case.

Wingo, buddy and Knowledge - I agree with all of you. Law enforcement is not obligated to tell what has happened in any case. It is confidential.

Agreed, law enforcement is only obligated to tell us the specifics that they are allowed to. But if they are seeking assistance from the public then they should be giving us more than "who allegedly drove a company truck — possibly a grain truck — into a swamp, injured himself and then fled the scene," not even a name until this morning, but KAAL had his name as of the 10 pm news.
The way the Tribune worded everything makes it sound like he intentionally drove the truck into the swamp, intentionally hurt himself, and then fled the scene which sounds as if he was/is guilty of something.
The law enforecemtn withheld his name from the beginning, but yet wanted us readers to assist them with any information we may have.
This is a public site; I have a right to voice my opinion-5th Amendment and all! If the Tribune is OK with posting crap, then they're going to get crap. I merely stated that before information is going to be released, then think of the family before doing so. The way this is worded makes him sound like a criminal, not a victim. So please, Wingo, Buddy, Knowledge and Gardenmama-get over yourselves.

tbanderson - I did not get the feeling from reading this story that he was a criminal, I found myself thinking "boy I wonder what happened here?" And maybe I don't want to get over myself!!!!!!

tbanderson...... Try not to sound so smart......
FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS THE 1ST AMENDMENT, NOT THE 5TH AMENDMENT........
When trying to make a point, check your facts. I don't think anyone is questioning your due process rights....
(Hint, that's the 5th Amendment)
FAIL X2 there tb.

OOOOK I did mess that up, I do know what the amendments are but I got tied up in the heat of the moment. I am merely suggesting that the wording, from either the law enforcement center or the tribune could have been posted differently. I am not the only one that sees the misleading information here. I am sure it was unintentional, but if the person saying the statements and the person publishing the statements had stepped back and thought about what it all said, they would realize they are insinuating there is foul play.
Not to mention the lack of discription-"he has brown hair, brown eyes, and a round face" - really?? We can see that in the photo; how tall is he? what was he wearing? does he have any distinguishing marks that we as the general public need to know if we see him. If he hit his head, he may be delusional and hitched a ride out of state not knowing what he was doing.
There are endless possibilities here, all I am saying is the importance of this has been misleading from the beginning. I feel for the family of Seth and hope that he is returned to his family unharmed and soon.
I apologize for my amendment screw up, I do know which is which-as I said I got tied up in the moment.
Strusz family-I pray for strength and guidance for all of you and hope that he is returned to you safely!!!
