Albert Lea Medical Center awards traditional and nontraditional scholarships to students

Albert Lea Medical Center — part of Mayo Health System — recently awarded two $750 scholarships to students in its service area who are currently enrolled in an accredited college or technical school and pursuing a career in health care.

Recipients of the scholarships are: Justin Elwood, Albert Lea, who is pursuing a degree in medicine at University of Iowa; and James Thomas Swenson, Albert Lea, who is pursuing a degree in biochemistry at Minnesota State University-Mankato.

Two additional $750 scholarships were awarded to nontraditional students who are pursuing post-secondary education in a health care field five or more years after completing high school or receiving a GED.

Recipients of the non-traditional scholarships are: Rita Moyer, Albert Lea, pursuing a degree in leadership/management at Concordia University, St. Paul; and Kristin Flatness, Hartland, pursuing a degree in pharmacy at Riverland Community College in Austin.
