Here are highlights in history for Oct. 12, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — The Albert Lea City Council was considering a request to store boat lifts in Brookside Park during the winter months. Several nearby residents were opposed to this proposal.
1981 — Fire department chiefs and assistants from all over the state would be in Albert Lea later in the week for the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association fall conference.
1931 — Elaine Vollum was the Albert Lea High School Homecoming Queen. Her attendants were Janice Brearton and Bernice Augustine.
