U.S. Highway 65 in Albert Lea is now open

Published Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Motorists may now travel on U.S. Highway 65 in Albert Lea without delays, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Maintenance crews finished installing a box culvert under Highway 65 between South Shore Drive and Myers Road in Albert Lea. Construction began Sept. 14. That area of Highway 65 is also Southeast Broadway Avenue. South Shore Drive also is Freeborn County Road 19.

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.

Well I am glad something is done. Now can somebody find out what the HE double hockey sticks is going on with the roads to Alden? I had to drive all the way to Wells yesterday just to get home on 90. I was NOT a happy camper!!!! Is 46 open yet? And before anybody says it, I did check the DOT website. What a joke!!!

Why in the world did they have to have two main roads under construction at the same time? Makes no sense to me at all. At least they were working on I-90 the other night with their bright lights - get it done !!!

Why did they have to redo County 46 and I - 90 at the same time also?

If the crew working on County 46 had the job of laying concrete for all of I – 90, it would have taken them one hundred years at their current work pace.

This process has taken way too long.

Consider yourselves lucky that you have to only deal with 46 and 90. All the extra time it takes you to get through these areas are not even close to what individuals have had to deal with in the twin cities and other larger areas.
