Peek at the Past

Published Wednesday, October 28, 2009

Here are highlights in history for Oct. 28, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1989 — The Rev. Warren I. Jorenby, the new pastor at Albert Lea’s First Lutheran Church, would be installed on Nov. 5.

1979 — This was the last day for Daylight Savings Time and folks could thus regain the hour they lost on the last Sunday in April.

1949 — A Halloween parade was scheduled to be on Oct. 30. The route would be on Broadway Avenue north to Fountain Lake Park.
