First Lutheran Church Women

First Lutheran Church Women met at noon Oct. 14 in Bethany Hall for the Reformation luncheon. This was the 49th anniversary of the Reformation luncheon.

Prelude music was provided by Joan Holt.

Co-President Diane Damerow welcomed everyone and led the blessing and thanksgiving at table.

Devotions were given by Donna Ludtke.

Julia Tonder introduced themusic provided by Marilyn Peters and Ken Bertelson, who played old favorites, including “Sentimental Journey,” “There Will be Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover,” “Pennsylvania Polka” and others. Tonder also introduced the program, “Family Generations” by Judy Menssen.

Lois Jensen read an invitation to Cross of Glory’s soup and pie supper on Nov. 4 and brochures from River Crossings and Global Health.

Holidays Ahead was discussed.

Geraldine Sauke gave a report from “Happiness is a Blanket.” Three hundred seventy-six quilts have been made and given as follows: 16 to the Salvation Army; 351 to the Lutheran World Relief van; three to Good Earth Village; and six to Brookside Education Center children.

Caring & Sharing Co-chairwomen Neva Mathison and Marge Moine and their committee served two funerals in September.

Unit III Co-Chairwomen were: Virginia Hermanson and Helen Lovik. Their committee included: Audrey Christensen, Irene Christensen, Lavina Fellner, Donna Henrikson, Norma Ingvaldson, Bumett Loge, Kathy Olson, Lorraine Sletten, Arlis Smith and Maxine Wignes. Decorating: Virginia Hermanson and Cheryl Moran. Dining room co-chairwomen: Lorraine Fjelstad and Helene Westrum. Greeters: Marilyn Chafee, Phyllis Hamborg and Marge Moine. Hostesses: Virginia Hermanson and Cheryl Moran. Pianist: Joan Holt.

Holidays Ahead Crafters meet on Mondays at 9 a.m. in Bethany Hall

Friday, Nov. 6 — Church Women United, World Community Day, Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea

Nov. 11-18 — Used-a-bit and used-a-bit plus items may be brought to the church.

Wednesday, Nov. 11 — FLCW meeting, 1:15 p.m. Thank offering will be received.

Friday, Nov. 20 — Holidays Ahead set-up day.

Saturday, Nov. 21 — Holidays Ahead will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Coffee and goodies will be served from 8 to 10:30 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be baked goods, circle tables, used-a-bit and used-a-bit plus shop.
