I see the media is already working to elect Obama. Did you remove NoDFL comment because he called Obama a socialist? Just want to know what limits we are putting on free speech.

Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 1:13 p.m. (Suggest removal)

What did I say that is so wrong? I see if you do not support the guy the media wants you to vote for you remove the comment. I think you are in for a suprise.

The new polls are showing that the battle ground states are going to McCain. Can't wait to see the media get egg on it's face.

This is how democracy dies. You remove those who disagree with you. Are you now telling me that socialism is a hate word? If so than Obama should not support it.

Posted by outoftownlandlord (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 1:21 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Wow so the guy won't support the chosen one (as far as the tribune says) and calls Obama what he is a socialist or better yet a communist. Obama said in his own words that that he wants to redistribute the wealth which is a communist idea and you take away his comment. Democracy is truly in danger this election. I bet you will rig the vote for Obama. I think you will if you remove the post for calling him a socialist.

Posted by Free (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 1:28 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Wow how far has this paper dropped. You removed a post because he said Obama was going to lose the national election. Or is it because you don't want people to know about Obama's ideas on redistribution of wealth (socialism/communisim) or his stance on coal and wanting to increase our electric cost thus taking more of my hard earned money, or wait maybe you don't want people to know how we wants to cut defence by 25%, or is it he believe in abortion on demand with no restriction.

Democracy only works when everyone can express their views and are not censord by the media. Or is just you the paper who should have freedom of speech.

Democracy nearly died when Bush, Cheney and the rest of the far right crowd got in the White House and tried to destroy the Constitution. With Obama, we have a chance for MANY voices to be heard - not just the Neo-Cons.

NoDFL and outoftownlandlord - you don't want Democracy, you want Autocracy.

Posted by outoftownlandlord (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 1:48 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Do you really think McCain has a chance in Minnesota? We have not voted for a Republican President since Nixon. Sad to say it is going to come down to battle ground states that don't always vote the same way. Looking at it now the mainstream media may have gotten it wrong. Kinda reminds me of Jesse V and the we shocked the world election. Could be wrong but I do know Obama will win Minnesota. Socialism is as socialism does. Opps sorry will this post get removed for using the term socialism.

Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 1:57 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Autocracy hum lets see what that means: An autocracy is a form of government in which the political power is held by a single self-appointed ruler.

So lets see in my post where I support this idea. No where I have said over and over that one party rule is destructive to our country so using your logic your desire to have Obama and Nancy P and Reid in contol of the government is a better example of autocracy. But at last logic is lost. Obama will save us under his socialist rule. Wait sorry I should have said under his Autocracy rule. Now who sounds silly. Words and their meanings are what count unless you are Obama than they are just words.

Obama's new taxes will result in higher cost not only for me but for my customers and employees. Every tax he passes will cost my consumers, my tenants, and my employees more. I will not be hiring an new employees if Obama gets in. The health care rules alone will kill profits and I am very worried about card check. Unions in small business cost jobs. I will be unable and unwilling to rasie wages but the cost of my goods and services will go up which mean the people who buy from me will pay more. Now if I am in the business which requires discretionary income I will get killed. If you work for a company that makes things that are nessary you will see a slowing as well. People will cut back and this slow down will become a stop. My tenants are already seeing an increase in rent due to taxes, gas, and city ordinances (AL) when my cost go up I do not eat it. I should not even be asked to in a free society this is why government must for redistribution of wealth because it flys in the face of freedom. Those of you at the bottom will be hurt by this not helped.

There is nothing in Obama's words that will cause America to grow.

Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 3:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

This is just a little info to help you all understand the words used here and how they apply.

Capitalism: market economy in which the factors of production are privately owned.

Communism: economic and political system in which factors of production are collectively owned and directed by the state.

factors of production: productive resources that make up four categories of land, capital, labor, and entrepreneurship.

Socialism: economic system in which government owns some of the factors of production and has a role in determining what and how goods are produced.

So who do you want to own your factors of production. I like an America where I do. Hope it stays that way.

Hope they don't delete this because I used facts to ask a question.

"Socialism: economic system in which government owns some of the factors of production and has a role in determining what and how goods are produced." Bush signed the bailout bill to help out the banking system now the government owns a part in the banking system...Doesn't this sound like socialism as well? We all should be mad that the CEOs of these banks have been seen celebrating and partying instead of doing what they are suppose to be doing with our money. I thought the bailout was insane but now that its happened the government should have more control in seeing that our money is being spent correctly. I don't see that happening with McCain...

What are you people going to have to complain and fight about once the election is over?

Posted by OldTrojan (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 5:16 p.m. (Suggest removal)

NoDFL, please quit making yourself look less than what you probably are. This election has been over for months and you know it. Obama is going to win in an electoral landslide. McCain is washed-up. I have been writing about this here since September 28. Rather than fanning the flames an approach of cooperation and being a good sport would go much futher. There is no question that Obama will win handily. Let's grow-up and move forward now. Peace be with you and all.

Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 5:17 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Funny the bailout was voted on and pushed threw congress by the Dem to cover their butts. The Dems had enough votes to do it without the Rep but wanted Reps so if it went bad they had someone to blame. Bush was wrong for signing it can't defend that move. But hey Bush isn't running this time. Also I think Obama voted for it as well.

What will we discuss (fight is such a harsh word)? The weather, the city, how the media missed the vote, what a great job McCain is doing. Any number of things....

Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 5:23 p.m. (Suggest removal)

OldTrojan,

Want to make a bet? I bet that there is no landslide. McCain will win. He will not win Minnesota but we all knew that before they even pick McCain or Obama. Not sure what we can wager but a friendly bet would be nice. Tell ya what I will make a donation in the name of OldTrojan to the DFL party if Obama wins by a landslide. If McCain wins you donate to the Republican party. Is it a deal?

Posted by OldTrojan (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 5:26 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sure, no problem. I agree to the donation deal as proposed by NoDFL.

alhs175,

Are you saying anyone who disagrees with you has a small mind? Why is that because we are not sheep or is it because we love our freedom? I notice that when called on the carpet you attack the person not the facts is this normal? Is this how democracy works if you are questioned you are to attack the person or people. Tell me why you think redistribution of wealth is not communism or socialism. Why is card check is not taking away my right to a secret vote. Don't call me small minded for asking a question.

No DFL:

Your comment should not have been removed. It was in bounds. I did not remove it, but a staff member did. I have gone into the system and retrieved it. You said:

"The Socialist Obama is going down. Minnesota has pick the loser to many times. Look to the country not our state."

We have a rule about no name calling. Calling someone a Socialist, while indeed a label, is not name calling in the way that, oh, say, "jerk" would be. It is simply an opinion, not a mean-spirited name-calling. Sorry for the inconvenience.

No DFL

How in the world can you say that the $700 billion bailout was pushed by the Democrats?

Were you not paying attention when President Bush gave speech after speech after speech about the necessity of the bailout??? Did you listen to the Treasury Secretary give dire warnings in testimony before Congress that this was the only way to avert economic disaster???

It sounds like you want to blame every "bad" thing on the Democrats and give a free pass to the Republicans.

That's democracy???

That's being an ideologue.

Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 8:20 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Are you telling me that Dodd and Frank had nothing to do with this mess? That sir is being an ideologue. Everything that has happen in the last 8 years is not the Republican or Bush's fault. You have not ever posted once that it is anyones fault but Bush. If you took the time and studied the cause you would see that there is plenty of blame to go around. Most falls at the feet of the liberal congress and Fanie and Fredie which were run into the ground by higher ups in the Den party but hey why not blame Bush it is easier. The 700 billion should never have happened but in an election year that was trending Dem someone had to be the fall guy.

Posted by Truth (anonymous) on November 3, 2008 at 8:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I like the bet Old and No nice job. I see the poll matches about what is already know Obama will win Minnesota by 12 to 17 points. Still I think the country may not follow our led. Time will show. I don't think either will have a clear mandate to rule. One last thing to consider be careful what you wish for you just might get it.

Posted by jericho (anonymous) on November 4, 2008 at 9:16 a.m. (Suggest removal)

I just can't understand why anyone would want the same mess we have had for 8 years, I guess the familiar is more comfortable than trying something new that might work. It's like trying to pull the door open when you have to push. No matter how many times you pull on that door to open it it won't happen. Why not try something new?

I respect the fact that we all have our opinions, and I respect the fact that we all get to vote how we want, how we feel, and to the best of our own personal knowledge of the candidates. What I do not respect is the fact that no matter who wins this election, no one will hold them accountable for not bringing forth what you asked for and what they promised. If your choice does not work hard for his promises, who is there to do something about it? Where is the checks and balances for that, because lets face it, without that, all of the above effort is wasted. It is because of this that I voted for a Man that fought for his country, divulged the information asked of him, and recognizes that while change is needed, to much to fast can and will cause chaos.

Posted by NoDFL (anonymous) on November 5, 2008 at 5:46 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Sorry spent the day teaching about the election. Not eating my words but am eating a little crow. I can tell you this I never brought my politics into the class room and my students did a vote 1/2 called me a dem 1/3 called me a rep and 1/3 said I was an Independent. With that said I still say Obama is a socialist. But the people have spoken. Not sure if I call it a landslide. He did do better than any other Den since Johnson. There was a lot of red and blue. Maybe I should get use to the color of purple. So Old would it be called a landslide? I will pay up if it was.

NoDFL - I'm pleased that you don't bring your politics into your classroom. I believe teachers have a right to their opinions just as the rest of us do. I think you should stick to your job during work hours, however. As a local taxpayer, you must understand why your posting during school hours concerns me.

I was impressed with McCains concession speech. He is definately a man of character. I hope that he and Obama will be able to work together for the better of our country. That is what the country needs right now.

Posted by craze (anonymous) on November 6, 2008 at 5:45 p.m. (Suggest removal)

NoDFL why do you so proudly waste our taxdollars and demean the quality of education of our students so that you can go crazy with posts on the albertleatribune? And have of those posts are blasts, possibly against the parents of your students, perhaps even of your student depending upon what grades you "teach"

I don't get it, I would be embarassed, ashamed, and fearful of getting fired if I were you.
