I know what D, E, F, and G are, but what the heck are the first three? Is A an active member in the community? B, I have no idea, and C ... no clue.

Yeah...

I agree with not knowing what to make of this poll

With so many out-of-towners... do you think perhaps we might be interested in neighboring small town v. Twin Cities v. out-of-state (beyond neighboring towns)? Also, "Country Bumpkin" might be a little insulting to some in agriculture who are quite experienced or who have college or technical education.

Yeah, this is confusing. I know what E and F are, and I'm assuming A has something to do with being active in the community. But I haven't the foggiest about the others. Also whats with so may out of towners? Does that mean the majority of folks who visit this website don't even live in Albert Lea? Though lately that wouldn't really surprise me. . .

Try typing the following into Google:

"define: mover and shaker"
"define: booster"
"define: naysayer"

You can use "define:" in Google for just about any term you can think of.

It's a fun trick for getting a variety of definitions...some more official than others, of course.

Rough sketch:
Mover and shaker is someone who is involved in the community and gets things done. Usually, they have a key role.
Booster is someone who supports what the movers and shakers generally do but doesn't have time, will or appropriate job to be a mover and shaker. Naysayers dislike what the movers and shakers do or what the boosters say. They oppose most things.
A recluse is mostly disconnected from the community activities.

I'm a disconnected/country bumpkin/ former resident /local property owner/recluse/former DFLer turned Independent/retired senior citizen. How many times should I vote?

Why try the council will do what ever it wants anyway. Metisman I think you say it best.

What a stupid poll. If there were actually any "movers and shakers" in Albert Lea, the town wouldn't suck so bad. Guess that makes me a "naysayer"/"Out of towner" who went to college and never came back becuase there are NO JOBS.

Who is the purpose of polls like this one? Perhaps:
-To entertain?
-To gain useful information?
-To fill space?
-To generate creative responses?

Why isn't there one for
"Concerned Citizen"

I doubt most of these posters are from out of town. Doesn't make sense. This survey would have been more fun if the choices would have been each surrounding town, like Alden, Hollandale, etc.

Virginian .... a dictionary? Most of these terms are slang, and could mean different things to different people.
