You're confusing their commentary portion, i.e., Hannity, O'Reilly, etc., with their actual news hour. You don't actually think those commentators are reporting the news do you? C'mon. Know the difference.

The Nazi's were evil because of their crimes against humanity...this is not what the debate is about.

His article is not, singularily, about the seat belt law...IT'S THE EXAMPLE HE USES...it's about all the laws that have been created that infringe on individual rights which is the basis of our freedom. Good grief.

The mile has been taken...where have you been living? The lawmaker's even want to put a tax on cows that fart...you don't think they're going just a little too far? Well then we'll have to agree to just disagree.

Lefty...apparantly you didn't comprehend what you read.

Williams did not (in your words)"compare seat belt laws to being a Nazi" He is making a comparison of how America has used health and safety as a justification to usurp our individual rights, our ability to make personal choices, for the common good of the people, as a whole. The Nazi's usurped individual rights as well as the communists. This is the point he was trying to make.

Williams goes on to debate individual rights and how it corresponds to being free. He just happens to be using the seat belt law for his example.

If it's not that important then why did they pass the law? You are playing right into the lawmaker's hand. THEY want you to do exactly what you, yourself, are telling people to do..."just do it and shut up". I, Sir, am not a sheep and I don't care how minor you think the law may be. I'm sure you've heard of the old phrase...give them an inch and they'll take a mile...well, sir, we're in that mile...

""Click It or Ticket" represents another bold step along the road to serfdom. History knows of no totalitarianism agenda where noble goals weren't used as justification. Nazis used "for the good of the German Volk" and the Soviets used "for the good of the proletariat" as their justification. Health and safety have become the American justification for attacks on liberty.

In a free society, each person owns himself. As such, he has the broad discretion to make his own choices regardless of what others think of the wisdom of his choices. He has the right to take chances with his own health and safety. However, if an American doesn't own himself, and it's Congress that owns him, he doesn't have those rights. Thus, the "Click It or Ticket" program is simply Congress' way of caring for its property, the American people."

Kudos to Sheriff Harig for looking at ways to bring additional revenue and jobs to the county. Based on the estimated cost of $750,000, the county is looking at a potential $1.475 million in income.

I am dismayed at Mr. Hinnenkamp's attempt at making a rival political party look foolish.

Note the Preamble of our Constitution: We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Notice the preamble didn't start with "We the Democrats", nor "We the Republicans"... Please Ted, keep that in mind when you attempt to "one up" your opposition. We're all in this together.

No one entity within our government is to blame for the economic downturn. The last time I checked the Democrat's controlled congress and the Republican's controlled the White House when this all started coming to a head...both parties are to blame.

I'm tired of all the mudslinging at the federal and state levels let alone citizens of this very own community. We need to work together if we're going to make this city, this state, this country better for our children.

So Mr. Hinnenkamp, there is plenty of blame to go around and your attempt at mudslinging is sad. I do not care if you're a republican or democrat. We as a people should all be embarassed at how our government is handling themselves in the present moment.

On Right-wingers are ‘Johnny one notes’

I like the idea. Many of todays households have two income earners. Many of whom work until 5. This will lighten the burden of those families that have to juggle transportation issues at 3:00 pm.

In addition to the potential savings for the district, this could also benefit those families who have to deal with after school care for our young students. Instead of preparing the kids 5 days of the week for care, they may only have to worry about one day.

I'm glad the school district is doing some creative thinking and planning in addressing the current budget issues.
