It will be exciting to see the major election results on the 3rd of Nov. and hopefully we will see the trend of ejecting the bums who don't care about the country, but just want to push their own agendas, no matter the cost. I'm really looking forward to 2010... we're going to see lots of new Representatives and Senators and the incumbents are booted. Maybe it won't be too late to reverse the disastrous bills that have been passed and might be passed. There's always hope that Americans will see the light and decide this "Change" wasn't the kind of change they really wanted!

20 years from now, all the facts and truths will come out about Obama and his cronies... the media (all media) is starting to catch on... it's not just Fox News reporting the truth now... it's about time. Next Tuesday, 2 Republican Governors will win election and that will set the tide for the 2010 elections... which incumbents (both Dems and Republicans) will be out! It's about time!

Changing the coach sure can't hurt at this point, but ChicagoCommon is right... this ownership group doesn't seem to have a good hockey sense or business sense either!

If we're going to FIX healthcare... let's at least do it right. This entire debate has left out four items essential to lowering the cost of health care. I don't understand why?
- First, there is nothing in these thousands of pages that pushes Americans to be more responsible about their own health. There are no rewards for quitting smoking, or getting on the treadmill, or getting a flu shot.
- Second, there is no attempt to rein in malpractice costs. Putting a lid on awards is not hard. though it may well be impossible given the vast amount of money that flows through the malpractice shops into Democratic coffers. Estimates vary, but many reports say that fear of lawsuits prompt some 20% or so of medical expenses for unnecessary procedures and tests.
- Third, I am not aware of any effort to cut through the regulatory impasse and allow insurers to compete across state lines. The consequence of the status quo is near-monopolies enjoyed by insurers in most states; what is the point of that? There is some talk about removing the insurance industry’s exemption from anti-trust enforcement. Why not address the problem directly?
- Fourth, there is little change in the basic model of reimbursements. Doctors get paid by the government according to formulas that encourage waste. For instance, in some cases doctors will prescribe only one month of medication so that the patient must return frequently, ringing up unnecessary monthly office visits. Hey, if you got paid by the visit, you’d prescribe only a one month dose too.
Why doesn't the bills being put forth in Congress address these 4 major issues?

It's really not about either party... it's a result of the moral decay of the culture of the United States. The founding fathers never foresaw our nation lasting even 200 years and they would turn over in their graves if they could see families, politics, tv and the internet. The U.S. is not alone in it's decay... the whole world is heading for judgment. I'm not a prophet... don't have to be one, but any one can see where the world is headed, especially the U.S.
All you Dems and Republicans need to quit pointing fingers at each other and start working WITH each other instead of AGAINST! The American people are getting sick and tired of it and both parties are going to be expelled in record numbers in the coming 2010 and 2012 elections. We need a change... and Obama didn't and can't bring it. We need true change and not pandering to special interests. It's time to decide what is right for the American people, not Republicans and not best for Democrats, but what's best for U.S. all!

Can't watch Good Morning America or any KAAL program now that they moved the antenna closer to Rochester and away from Albert Lea. Mason City's KIMT will have to do.

Alzheimers has to be one of the most difficult things in life to deal with. God bless you Palmer and family.

I congratulate Victoria on the new position and wish her well. I wish I was fortunate enough to be able to leave this very negative community. All cities are in the same condition as Albert Lea is... she is the manager and the Council determines what happens. If you naysayers want to blame someone, you should blame the Council....
On Albert Lea city manager resigns
