I found it interesting, that for the past few years, I rarely see any of our local leaders shopping locally the days after Thanksgiving.

I'm waiting to see what this is like 2 years or 5 years from now. I read Victoria Simonsen comment that the town needed something to pick us up during a recession. This town definitely needs a pick me up. I think people have done a great job of pulling this town together for this. It is a good project.

Look up old pictures of Albert Lea. There are lots of signs and lights on Broadway. If you remember the old Broadway and Rivoli Theaters, they had signs over the sidewalk that flashed. The town was lit up and properous. I recently drove down Broadway and never realized how many store fronts are rebuilt. It's all very beautiful, but not historic.

I was very disappointed when they voted to reject the sign.
Right now, I believe the City owns 3 buildings along Broadway because they can't find a viable owner for the buildings. The sign would added some excitement and information to a very dead commercial district.

It's kind of funny that with a major metropoitan area, someone can travel through and miss the area.

I would be very imbarrassed to tell someone we have design standards in this town and then give them a tour of South Broadway from the railroad tracks to Healthreach. Also, take them by Albert Lea Lake area so they can see old sewage tanks and the 5 junked police cars near the lake.
I completely agree with the attempt to have a quality look to a town. we have to get this town straigtened out first.
We have to get jobs that produce more capital for people into this town.
