Quick point about stock market and 401k.
First of all if your 401k is down or the stock market is down it is not Obama's fault. The increase in last few years was all superficial. The 14,000+ DOW was not real number. It was all pumped up with bloated values of banks and mortgages. Market is correcting itself right now.
Lots of freaking dittoheads on here, get a brain and start thinking yourselves. That Fat-F&$k Lard Ass is using other idiots as his base and signs a $400 million contracts with radio stations to spew his poison.
Got a question for you Conservatives. Is he your perfect role model? Considering:
1) He can't stop growing (Gluttony). Isn't that a sin?
2) Spreads hate by suggesting Obama is distributing wealth. Back handed reference to giving money to blacks because he is black.
3) Divorced 4 times. Can't even manage his life and telling others how to live. I thought from family value point of view, people shouldn't get divorced. Shacking up with a 26 years old woman, good family values. If this blubber of a whale didn't have money, do you think that woman would even want to look at him naked.
Hey Virginian, the President's name is Barack Obama, not barama or any other variance. You must be listening to Jason Lewis or Chris Baker on the radio to use that name, they may have a copy right on that you know.

Mr. Murtaugh,
Thank you for answering some of the questions. Just to clarify, I meant assistants to the Directors (sec., admins etc.).

Why is it that whenever there is a shortage of funds or government aid, the cities always bring up reducing police or fire fighters. There are so many administrative and bureaucratic jobs that could be cut.
How many various directors are needed? Why do all the directors have assistants?
Are there overlapped duties?
Does the City Hall need to be open 5 days a week?
Could bill payments be made automatic/online?
What is the ratio of city employees to the total population? How many employees do the comparable cities have?
People, keep in mind that the city is not that big.

NoDFL, I have agreed with you on some previous topics on here. But it is utter nonsense if you are blaming President Obama for the current economic crisis. That $13 comes out to be $52 a month for an average taxpayer, for some people that is not bad (maybe help them pay cellphone/cable bills etc.).
The idiot that was in the White House before Obama caused most of our current problems. Where the heck were all the Republicans when Bush did not even veto one single spending bill? And where were the Republicans when the previous administration kept out the cost of the wars from the budgets. At least President Obama is being honest and transparent.

That the spirit alhgrad90 :)
At least that way you are doing good even when you are dead.
Churches shouldn't look at your death as a money making enterprise. If you are a member of a church, you pay their bills most of your life, least they can do is a final favor to you at your death and not charge for the funeral.
If all the Church cares for is how to make more money, then where is spirituality? where is God? where is decency?
They charge you when you are baptized, they charge you when you get married, they charge you when you die.

Funeral homes are one of the biggest scams out there. What is the need for a $5,000+ casket? After you are dead, what difference does it make if you are in a $5,000 box or a $500 box. For all I care, after I am dead, I wouldn't mind if I am thrown in a ditch or cremated. These expensive caskets aren't that friendly to environment either with all the stain, foams, polyurethane polish etc. And also embalming is nothing to sing about, over time the formaldehyde creeps into the water table.

You are dumb, aren't you Headscratcher. I got a challenge for you. Why don't you go online, do some research on properties for sale. Talk to a bank and get some initial numbers on rates, payments, down payments etc. Also write down insurance cost, taxes. You will find out that on average you will have about $50 left over per month on a house. There is a misconception here that landlords are sitting on a pile of money. Like any other business, these landlords have to keep the properties in certain conditions to be able to rent them out. If they don't, then they are killing their business.
If you can show be otherwise, where you know of a property in town that you could purchase today and rent it out and make thousands of dollars every month after paying all the expenses, I will make you my friend and share profits with you and we can both live the high life.
Pettiness in your comments gives it away that you have never owned a business and for some reason are jealous.

Hey Wingo
I wonder who do you work for? Does your boss/employer live in the city? We have Walmart here, but the owners of Wal Mart don't live in Albert Lea. Same applies for Home Depot, Hy-Vee, most restaurants, gas stations, banks.

How come no one is discussing eliminating some of the high paying (cost) jobs? City Planner, City Manager, City Finance Director etc. Here are the 2008 Salaries:
http://www.cityofalbertlea.org/pdfs/2009...
City Manager $100,341 (what does $100,341 get?)
Finance Director $82,874 (An accountant could do a better job)
HR Director $66,110 (City manager should handle this if she is making $100,341)
